NANHAI ART CENTRE: CONSTRUCTING CULTURAL URBAN ENVIRONMENT 南海艺术中心: 共建佛山文化导向名城

The spaces around each building merge to form a single interconnected landscape platform that extends like waves and wake from the building masses. This landscape creates spaces for outdoor activities and events while structuring beneficial environmental performance and desirable microclimates. Five new “valleys” are formed between the buildings linking the lake and the waterway. Each valley holds a unique landscape experience linked to performance, art, activity, and nature.

From Binhu Road (滨湖路), the Nanhai Arts Center is approached along a shaded boulevard. Broad plazas, lawns and amphitheaters reach into the site like undulating waves, opening the key entries and framing views across the site. On the Huanghu West Road ( 环湖西路), we create a broad and pedestrian friendly waterfront, with waving cherry trees and pockets of wetland drawing visitors to the edge of the lake. The vegetation here is also filtering and collecting site runoff as a sponge along the edge.

VALLEYS OF WAVES AND RIPPLES

The “Valley of Light and Reflection” flows between the Opera House and the Concert Hall, animating the covered space through flanking reflective water pools and ‘marquee’ lighting as a red-carpet experience. The “Valley of the Lake” opens broad views to the lake, park and tower beyond, with a large water pool that seems to be carved from the lake itself. These waterbodies animate the space, reinforce the sailboat appearance at the main axis, and cool airflow around the buildings.

The “Mountain Valley” forms a large art and performance space between the Museum and the Convention Center. Green walls and landforms on either side draw people up and down between the building and frame a mega-theater and sculpture garden. The “Topical Grotto Valley” sits in the narrow gap between the Convention Center and the Sports Center. Here tropical planters, hanging plants and green screens combine with the bridges to form a multi-level garden cooled by the evapo-transporation of big green leafy plants.

Finally, the “Wetland Valley” reshapes the water connection between the lake and the river as a quiet and abundant nature garden, drawn to the edge along long ramping paths to discover hidden pools and relaxation pods along the filtering wetland islands.

PLANTING PALETTE

Diverse canopy of timber emerges, layered with a myriad of sub-canopy and ground-layer vegetation, providing a rich habitat for fringe species that 'go to' the river for food and reproduction needs. This zone provides essential habitat bufering to urban adjacencies.

Tropical oasis plants in shaded region, create an naturalistic informal pocket. Vertical green is introduced to achieve a vibrant, bold green valley. Colorful and showy trees are array along the water path and clustered around activity zones. Shrubs and groundcover of various heights is introduced to create visual and spatial depth.

PAVING MATERIAL

1 / Pattern radiating from the lake, assisted with change in color depth, create the feeling of breeze and splashes. Flamed finish distinguish our site from sidewalks, slowering the pace of adjecent circulation

2 / Pattern relates circulation among site buildings to geometries and augularity. Accent bands and change of tones hint the paritions of spaces. Smooth surface contrasts to adjacent pavings, shifting the focus to usage of spaces.

3 / Pattern concentric to the lake, extending lakefront into the buildings. Color depth creates a sense of moist which echoes with the canal, but in a calm and relaxed way.

各个建筑物周邊的開放空间合并形成一个相互连接的景观平台,该平台像波浪一样向內推進并从建筑群中掀動。 設計裡的景观为户外活动及演出创建了平台,同时塑造了具節能效益的环境和舒適的微气候。在连接南海湖和佛山水道的建筑物之间形成了五个新的“山谷”。 每个山谷都具有与表演,艺术,活动和自然相关的独特景观体验。

沿着滨湖路的林荫大道進入南海艺术中心的場地,會分別看到宽阔广场,花甸草坪及露天剧场像波浪一样向山谷推進,進一步加強建築下的山谷视域。在环湖西路,則設計了一个宽敞而行人友好的滨水区,初春粉櫻和湿地成片的沼泽将游客吸引到了湖边。这里的植被沿用海绵城市的概念,於边缘收集径流并作过滤。

河波山谷景观

設計以河波為題,創建了五個主要通道。「光影山谷」在劇院和音乐厅之间流动,通过两侧的反光水池及天幕式照明,赋予山谷空间走红毯的動感体验。「湖光山谷」置於場地中軸,在穿過山谷時,可欣赏到由广阔湖泊,綠地及塔楼所組成的標誌景觀。山谷盡處有一個從延至湖泊的水境,这設計水体為空间帶來活力,增强主轴上的帆船外观,并冷却建筑物周邊的气流。

「梯田山谷」在博物馆和会议中心之间組成了寬闊的艺术和表演空间。會展中心侧的垂直绿墙在之形地貌中穿插,引領上下流線至天台會議花園。其刚劲形態為場地帶來一個吸睛的大型剧院和雕塑公园。「石窟山谷」位于会议中心和体育中心之间的狭窄缝隙中。在这里,热带种植,悬挂植物和绿屏与桥梁相互輝映,形成了一个多层花园。多層绿叶植物為空間帶來清涼舒適的空氣。

最後,「湿地山谷」重塑了湖泊和河流之间的水连接,形成了一个安静而丰富的自然湿地,場地旁的坡道連接至湖边近水步道,沿途中能在周邊的过滤湿地小島发现隐藏的嬉戲水池及休憩處。

1 / 河波掀地:从佛山水道开始发展,以河波向内环推进。波浪掀起地块,从提升的地形中描绘景观元素。

2 / 浪涌生谷:浪涌创建山谷,从场地中心绘画渐变射线以突出山谷。

4 / 涟漪描路:注水入湖,水滴形成涟漪向外延伸。涟漪所形成的波纹带描绘出近水小道及鋪裝图案。波纹开导种植结构,從低至高向水道擴展。

绿植色板

場地主要生长的是不到三米高的木质植被,包括小型树木,灌木。低矮的灌木植被为土著野生物种提供了自然栖息地,同时可以减缓水土流失。

橋下的热带植物形成了自然舒適的口袋。垂直绿化則加強了造型刚劲充满活力的绿色山谷。沿近水步道則排列着色彩艳丽的树木,或聚集在活动区周围。設計引入了各种高度的灌木和地被植物,以创造视觉和空间深度。

铺装材質

1 / 河畔铺装:从湖心放射的纹理制造视觉焦点,配合色彩深度营造如被浪花沾湿的河畔感。粗糙火焰面大场地与人行道区分开来,减缓周遭流线的节奏。

2 / 流线铺装:几何斜角纹理把场地建筑之间的流线联系,线状点缀与色调变化把提示活动空间的分割。平滑的表面与两旁铺装形成对比,强调活动空间的使用。

3 /湖畔铺装:纹理与湖心成同心圆,把湖畔向延申建筑,色彩深度呼应河畔的湿润,却显得平静写意。
