Houguan Lake Eco Demonstration Park
Construction is underway for an ecological restoration demonstration area on Houguan Lake in Wuhan, China. The brief called for reconnecting water flow through a series of former fish ponds and regenerating more biodiverse fish and bird habitats. Together with the Wuhan Ecological Environment Design And Research Institute (武汉生态环境设计研究院有限公司) our partners, we developed a strategy of landform as an 'ecological engine' to redirect planned cut-and-fill works into a series of low fingers to greatly increase surface area, habitat variety, transition, and connectivity.
